
Affectionately remembered as the “Shoe Box Ford”. In 1947, Chevy out-sold Ford by 29%. In 1948, that percentage widened with a whopping 66%. Ford had to come up with something good, and fast. Hence, this design where fenders are integral with the body for a squared off appearance – a departure from external stylized fenders. This car saved Ford and in 1949, Ford out-sold Chevy, if only by 8%.
